Session 9 - Databases

Session 9 was all about databases and how they are used in the workplace. The girls learnt that a database is used to store large amounts of information and that it can be interrogated to retrieve information. The girls were introduced to Microsoft Access and shown a table containing information on potential suspects in a mock police database. The girls learnt that they could design and use queries to narrow down the suspects based on the witness statements.

Mr Power also spoke to the girls about his recent trip to Sierra Leone, the girls had previously brought in some items for Mr Power to take with him to give to the children. Mr Power was able to show the girls some photographs of the trip and of their kind gifts being given to people who really appreciated it.
